All men and women who are 15 to 28 years old as of June 1, 2014 and are eligible to work in the U.S., are invited to audition. Some restrictions apply – please visit americanidol.com for specific information.

Auditioners will not be permitted to camp out. Wristbands and tickets are required for auditions. Distribution of wristbands and tickets will begin at approximately 7 a.m. and distribution will end at approximately 6 p.m.

Audition information, including forms and requirements, is available online at americanidol.com.
The aim of the American Idol series is to find new solo recording artists where the winner is determined by popular vote of television viewers in the U.S. Past winners selected through telephone, Internet and text voting include: country rock star Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, and Scotty McCreery.

Originally judged by record producer Randy Jackson, pop singer Paula Abdul and music executive Simon Cowell, American Idol now rotates its panel of judges. The most recent season included as judges country singer Keith Urban, singer and actress Jennifer Lopez and jazz musician Harry Connick Jr., a New Orleans native. Radio personality Ryan Seacrest now enters his 14th season as host.

"We are honored to have American Idol back in our building and even more excited about the possibility a New Orleanian could end up in the competition and maybe even being America's next Idol!" said Perez. "We're also proud and excited to see the Lakefront Arena in the national spotlight once again."
