Williams Named Dean of College of Business Administration

John WilliamsJohn Williams has been appointed dean of the College of Business Administration. Williams had served as interim dean since August 2010.

University of New Orleans Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs James E. Payne announced that John Williams has been appointed dean of the College of Business Administration. Williams had served as interim dean since August 2010.

Williams was one of three finalists, selected from a nationwide search, who participated in open forums during the search process.

“I am confident that Dean Williams will provide the leadership required to enhance the College’s internal operations and continued engagement with the greater New Orleans community,” Payne said. 

Williams joined the University of New Orleans in 2005 as a tenured professor and director of the Lester E. Kabacoff School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration. Prior to that, he served as director of the Department of Hotel, Restaurant, Institution Management and Dietetics at Kansas State University and as the coordinator of the undergraduate program at Virginia Tech University.

Williams has published more than 30 refereed articles in a number of journals that include the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, Journal of Management Development, Journal of the American Dietetics Association, Journal of Child Nutrition and Management, Journal of Foodservice Business Research, Journal of Restaurant and Foodservice Marketing, and Florida International Journal. He has also garnered more than $2.5 million in sponsored grants.
