The University of New Orleans congratulates graduate student Danielle Edinburgh Wilson for her recent win at the 25th annual Big Easy Music Awards. Wilson is slated to receive a Master of Music degree from the College of Liberal Arts in May.

The Big Easy Music Awards, run by the Big Easy Foundation, are designed to honor high achievement in music in the greater New Orleans area. The annual competition brings coveted awards in 24 categories, including traditional jazz, rock, blues, Cajun, Latin music, top male and female performers and best album. Winners were announced at the Big Easy Music Awards on Monday, April 22, at a ceremony at Harrah's New Orleans.

Wilson is a long-time member of Betty Winn and the One A-Chord Gospel Singers, which took home the Best Gospel Group Award at the 2013 Big Easy Music Awards ceremony.  On hand to celebrate were a host of headlining musicians from the greater New Orleans area, including New Orleans funk band The Meters, who accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award and singer/songwriter Anders Osborne, who was honored as Entertainer of the Year. Other winners included Dr. John, Ivan Neville and Dumpstafunk, and Meschiya Lake. UNO alumna Sasha Masakowski was a nominee in the Best Female Performer category.
