A University of New Orleans marketing professor has received the year's "Best Book" award from the International Association for Management of Technology.

Thomas S. O'Connor is honored for his book "Intellectual Property in the Managerial Portfolio: Its Creation, Development, and Protection," from Business Expert Press, New York. The award was presented at IAMOT's Annual Conference held April 14–18 in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

"This is wonderful recognition of Dr. O'Connor as a true expert in intellectual property," said John Williams, dean of the University's College of Business Administration.

The book is based on the professor's 30-plus years of experience in the analysis and appraisal of intellectual property rights and expert testimony offered at every legal level concerning all aspects of its protection, said Pamela Kennett-Hensel, marketing professor and department chair.

The International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT) is a global organization of practitioners, academics and others involved in technology development, perfection, use and transfer, Kennett-Hensel said. O'Connor's book provides valuable guidance on how to create, use and retain such valuable assets.
