Position Summary: The School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of New Orleans is seeking two additions to its faculty team at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (tenure track). The School of NAME invites applications from individuals especially with an interest in marine structures and marine design sciences (systems engineering) although a wide range of disciplines will be considered. The positions are available beginning August 2014.

Located in the vibrant city of New Orleans, UNO's School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering is unique in many ways. Founded upon request by the Gulf Coast marine industry the School maintains close ties with industry in both teaching and research. The School attracts students from all states and many countries, providing a rich and rewarding teaching Opportunity. The School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME) serves about 120 undergraduates and 30 graduate students. The School offers Bachelor's and Master's degrees in naval architecture and marine engineering, as well as PhDs in Engineering and Applied Science. Responsibilities: Successful candidates are enthusiastic teachers and engage students in undergraduate and graduate level courses. Development of a stream of funding to support their research, and collaborate with colleagues and industry to advance the state-of-the-art in naval architecture and marine engineering.

Both positions comprise approximately a 40/40/20 mix of teaching, research, and service. Academic appointments at the University of New Orleans are nine month positions, extending from mid August to mid May. Details on the UNO academic calendar may be found at

Required Qualifications: Applicants should hold an earned Ph.D in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering or in a related engineering field supported by relevant experience.

Salary: Competitive, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications.
