DEPARTMENT: College of Engineering

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Dean will provide leadership in all academic, administrative, and research related matters of the College of Engineering. He or she will work with the departments and faculty to envision, plan, and implement initiatives to advance the excellence of the College’s programs, faculty, staff, student body, and facilities. The Dean will lead and oversee the College’s recruitment and outreach programs to increase student enrollment and retention, and will facilitate fund-raising efforts of all types (research grants and contracts, philanthropic gifts, etc.) on behalf of the College. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will represent the College both within the University and to the community at large, developing and enhancing alliances and partnerships that leverage the distinctive nature and strengths of the College to the benefit of the University, the College, and its partners.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Doctorate in Engineering, a record of scholarly achievement in research and teaching equivalent to the qualifications for tenure and rank of professor in a discipline in the College, and membership on the Graduate Faculty. Successful administrative experience in higher education is required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: At least three years of successful administrative experience in an engineering leadership role at a research university or equivalent.

SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
