POSITION TITLE:  Texas Regional Admissions Counselor

POSITION SUMMARY: The Texas Regional Admissions Counselor will develop recruitment strategies, plans, and goals for Texas (Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas) based on demographic analyses, market research and other admissions data; monitor admissions activity in critical markets; prepare statistical reports and analysis in support of strategies and goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Plan, coordinate and execute recruitment, outreach and yield activities designed to enroll prospective students. This counselor will establish a recruiting office in the Houston, TX area.

Communicating information about admissions policies and procedures to prospective students, families, school counselors, community-based organizations and alumni volunteers.

Prepare and deliver presentations.

Interview and admit prospective freshman and transfer students, evaluate transcripts, and review admission applications.

Advise prospective and current students on admissions, housing, scholarships, and related issues; and serve as a liaison for students who confront unexpected circumstances.  Use social media and related resources to create and maintain contact with students, updating to new media as needed. 

Develop, plan, and coordinate alumni recruitment program initiatives. Maintain relations with Texas area UNO alumni.

Develop and maintain relationships with high school and community college counselors and other school, agency, and community officials in the Texas area.

Work with staff at the Lakefront campus to develop targeted, segmented, specific communications strategies.

Assist, as needed, in all aspects of the enrollment process including recruitment activities, testing, advisement and new student orientation.

Develop the required knowledge base and data to serve as a resource to all students coming to the Privateer Enrollment Center, and actively seek out this knowledge and take advantage of opportunities to grow professionally. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:       Bachelor's degree and excellent oral and written communication skills. Willing to do extensive travel and work non-traditional hours. Must possess the ability to relate to individuals of all ages and backgrounds; have strong organizational and interpersonal skills; and be comfortable interacting with students via email and, where helpful, social media.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
