Research Associate II – Freight Transportation

DEPARTMENT: Transportation Studies


  • 85% Participation in the development and management of sponsored research activities of the UNO Transportation Institute (UNOTI) including analysis of port and freight transportation systems; transportation systems resiliency, evacuation and disaster initiatives; transportation systems for the Mississippi River and affected ports (Container-on-Barge, inland port development); and mega-region transportation planning and policy projects.
  • 10% Community Outreach/Stakeholder Liaison: Represent UNOTI on the World Trade Center's Transportation Committee as well as related transportation advocacy groups in New Orleans and the state.
  • 5% Work to expand funding and research programs


A Master’s Degree in urban planning or related field; or, a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and at least 4 years of professional work experience in urban planning or transportation.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
