Jazz Studies Assistant Professor

DEPARTMENT: Department of Music/Jazz Studies 

POSITION SUMMARY: Applications and nominations are being sought for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Jazz Studies with duties to begin August 13, 2012. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach jazz history courses to jazz studies graduate and undergraduate majors and also jazz history survey courses to non-majors; Serve as coordinator of the Music Studies program; Partake in Music Department faculty meetings and serve on committees as needed; Participate in advising, auditioning, and recruiting activities; and Provide creative/scholarly input and service to the University as required. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Jazz Studies or equivalent; five (5) years of successful teaching experience at the University level; and the ability to teach freshman theory and musicianship courses to all music majors, direct jazz ensembles, and teach applied lessons. 

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
