POSITION SUMMARY


RESPONSIBILITIES

(15%) Supervise Office of Research proposal development and contract personnel · (15%) Oversee discovery of funding and scholarly opportunities, including active communication with potential PIs and scholars · (15%) Oversee strategic development of grant proposals by PIs, including encouragement of early identification of opportunities, training of PIs, facilitation of proposal preparation, and enhancement of proposal quality prior to submission (e.g. pre-review of editorial and technical aspects); minimize preparation burden on PIs and ensure high quality customer service · (7.5%) Oversee proposal submission process to ensure on time submission and highest quality proposals; minimize submission burden on PIs and ensure high quality customer service; oversee grant and contract award process and minimize burden on PIs · (7.5%) Coordinate grant development training for PIs and proposal development specialists; work with Director of Compliance and Training to ensure training quality, implementation, and outcomes · (10%) Collaborate with University Advancement to secure donations in support of Office of Research objectives, including funding of scholarly work not generally eligible for grant funding · (10%) Collaborate as needed with Vice President for Research, Assistant Vice President for Research, and other constituents on university wide grant proposal development and submission · (10%) Discover and implement best practices; report on Office of Research proposal and scholarly development success and efficiency · (5%) Attend conferences or visit program officers as directed by the Assistant Vice President for Research or Vice President for Research · (5%) Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Research or Vice President for Research


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

​Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of professional experience in research development or a closely related field; excellent organizational and communication skills; competence with Microsoft software, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

​Advanced degree; 5 or more years of professional experience in research administration and compliance or a closely related field; SharePoint and PeopleSoft experience; supervisory experience


SALARY

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
