Thank you for your interest in participating as an exchange student at the University of New Orleans. UNO's International Student Exchange Programs provide students with exceptional academic experience amidst the unique charm and culture of New Orleans.

Get Started

Apply through your home university to be an exchange student.

Contact the student exchange office at your own university to verify that your university is a UNO exchange partner institution.

Fill out the Study Abroad and International Student Exchange Application.

Note: this is separate from the Admission Application, which you will fill out in a later step.

  • Fill out an application for incoming exchange students.
  • Once you have entered the Year and Session, please select the Program "ISEP International Incoming Student Exchange Programs."
  • You will need the confirmation ID from this application in order to proceed to the next step.

Upload your photo.

You will need your email and your Application ID, which you received in step 2.

Apply for admission to UNO.

This is the general form for admission for all potential students. Carefully read the instructions and requirements, which are found on the application page.

Provide the required documents for incoming students.

Follow the instructions provided to complete each of the required forms.


After You Have Been Accepted

Obtain a student visa.

Once you have been admitted to UNO, we will send your local program coordinator your official letter of admission and form DS-2019, which you will need to apply for your student visa. The type of visa you will have is J1: Exchange visitor (college/university student).

Choose your housing.

Students may choose where they would prefer to live. Please visit the Office of Student Housing for more information.

Log in and sign up.

UNO Email: All students should use their UNO email address for all university-related communications. Instructions for getting email access and logging into WebSTAR can be found here.

Sign up for classes. Once you have your UNO email address, you will be able to login to WebSTAR and sign up for classes.
