The scholarship is for one semester only, and no student may hold the scholarship more than once. The scholarship may be used for tuition only; the amount is limited to the in-state/resident level. None of the Mary Freeman Wisdom money may be used for any of her descendants. Each year, the University Honors Director informs the Mary Freeman Wisdom Foundation, in writing, how the scholarship money has been awarded.

Applicants should write a letter stating their interests, discussing academic/ professional plans, and explaining their qualifications. The applicant should include in the letter his/her expected date of graduation and choice of major. Preference is given to students farther along in their studies. The deadlines for each semester are as follows:

Ambassador Awards

The University of New Orleans and the Division of International Education believe strongly that study abroad experience should be made available to as many qualified students as possible. To this end, a limited number of Ambassador Awards will be made available to University of New Orleans students who exhibit high academic achievement, whose academic plans would benefit most from a study abroad experience, and who exhibit clear financial need.

For qualification information, applications, and details of the various study abroad programs, visit the Division of International Education directly.
