Joining a Greek organization is one of the best ways to get involved at the University of New Orleans. Fraternity and sorority members hold leadership positions in New Student Orientation, Student Government, Student Activities Council, Progressive Black Student Union, UNO Ambassadors, professional organizations, the UNO Honors program, and a variety of honor societies.

Interfraternity Council (IFC) Recruitment

IFC coordinates recruitment each fall to introduce interested men to its fraternities (Kappa Sigma, Lambda Chi Alpha, Theta Xi, and Phi Kappa Sigma). IFC Recruitment gives potential members the opportunity to meet members of each fraternity. The fraternities decide which recruits they wish to invite into membership, and the recruits will choose which fraternity they wish to join. IFC formal recruitment will be held on September 15-19, 2014. To register please go to the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership, University Center 222 or visit the main IFC page.

NPHC fraternities and sororities (Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.; Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.; and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.) bring in new members at different times of the year through a process called Membership Intake. Each NPHC group has different requirements for membership, and each conducts intake on its own schedule.

Several of the NPHC fraternities and sororities will hold interest/invitational/informational meetings or other events for prospective members.

None of the NHPC organizations allows first-semester freshmen to join. However, at the Greek 101 NPHC will host an information session so these students can learn about the general requirements for membership, what they should (and should not!) do in order to express their interest in an NPHC fraternity or sorority, and much more. They will take questions from the audience as well. Attire is business casual.
