New Student Checklist

What to do after being admitted:
  • Review Living in New Orleans pages
  • Contact Student Housing
  • Provide proof of Immunization (required prior to registration)
  • Sign up for Student Health Insurance
  • International students on F or J visas must attend the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) Orientation
  • Register for your College or Department Orientation, if applicable
  • Obtain UNO Student ID
  • Register for classes on WebStar l Not sure how? Helpful information is posted here.
  • Graduate Assistants set up Direct Deposit for Stipends
  • Obtain your LAN (Local Access Network) account ID and Password.
  • Purchase Parking Permit Enroll in Meal Plan. Campus Dining Services is in room 250 in the University Center . Their phone number is 504-280-6370.
  • Set up Blackboard account
  • Visit your program. Meet your Graduate Coordinator and get to know the Administrative Assistant in your program office. These are people who can help you navigate through the course of your graduate career.
  • Acquaint yourself with the Library services and hours.
  • Get involved in student organizations. Just some of the groups are listed here.
