Welcome to UNO

Preparing to attend college is an exciting time in your life, and we are pleased that you, along with your parent(s), are considering The University of New Orleans. Information on this website will assist you in making this important decision, whether you will be an entering freshman or a transfer student.

In 2009-2010 UNO received and awarded over 48 million dollars in financial aid--grants, loans, and Work-Study--most of it was awarded on the basis of financial need.
The University is committed to meeting the demonstrated financial need of undergraduate and graduate students. We currently meet approximately 65% to 90% of our student’s direct cost of attendance (tuition, fees, and books) that are residents of the state of Louisiana.

There are many reasons to choose one college over another and we'd like to think that cost is the least significant. However, we know that cost, and therefore financial assistance, are sometimes crucial to the decision-making process. The staff of the Office of Financial Aid wants to assist you and your family through the tedious processing of financial aid and budgeting issues. Please view our website as it discloses important information on applying for financial assistance (federal, state, and institutional) and budgeting. Feel free to contact us; we can be reached by e-mail, telephone or in person.

NOTE - Privacy Notice to Parents: Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and University Policy, we are not allowed to release financial aid information to anyone other than the student. In the instance of a dependent student, we can discuss financial aid information with the student’s parents or custodial parents only if the student has given written permission through the completion of the FERPA Release Form for the Purpose of Federal Financial Aid.

Sincerely,
Emily London-Jones
