Grants are monies provided by the federal government to assist students pursuing their first bachelor's degree. These funds are not loans and do not have to be repaid unless the student's eligibility changes within the academic year (in which the student was awarded incorrectly) or the student withdraws from the university whithin a certain period of the semester.
