Effective Immediately Verification Changes for 2016-2017 and 2017-2018

For both award years schools are now permitted to accept signed paper tax returns to complete verification for IRS Tax Return Filers. Additionally, schools are no longer required to collect IRS documentation for verification of non-filing. Schools must continue to require a signed statement that the individual has not filed and is not required to file a 2015 income tax return and a listing of any 2015 income earned from work and the amount of income from each source and copies of the individual’s W-2 for each source of employment income.
