New Students - Getting Started
The University of New Orleans and the office of Distance Education are here to make your student experience rich and worthwhile. UNO offers you a wide variety of help in order for you to successfully complete your online courses. UNO has advisors for every college within the university and advisors are always available for distance education students. As well, the office of distance education is here to help out future and current distance education students.

Advising
For online academic advising please click on the college of your major below to be redirected to the college site where you will be able to find online advising. Once you are accepted and you are in need of online advising, please e-mail advisors of your college.
Technology Required
Here is a list of the technology you will need in order to succesfully complete a Distance Education course.
- Modern computer with Internet access
- Computer speakers and microphone (optional for Internet Courses)
Computer Skills Required
Before taking a UNO Distance Education course make sure you know how to perform the following basic computer skills.
- Log in to WebSTAR
- Open your UNO e-mail account
- Log in to Moodle
- Ability to access SecondLife and know the basics of it(only for Virtual World Courses)
- Send e-mails through your UNO e-mail account
- Ability to open discussion groups on Moodle and being able to post a thread.
