Counseling Staff

Counseling Services professional staff are experienced in the assessment and treatment of mental health concerns common among university students. Graduate students from regional universities enrolled in various behavioral disciplines also provide services through Counseling Services under the supervision of the licensed professional staff.

Professional Staff

Rosamond Myers, PhD
Director, UNO Counseling Services

Rosamond Myers, Ph.D. (University of Southern Mississippi) oversees the Counseling Services. Dr. Myers has worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, but since 1991 has devoted her career to working with college students in university counseling center settings.  As a clinician, Dr. Myers is a generalist and works with a wide variety of student concerns. She enjoys assisting students from various walks of life address and successfully meet developmental, academic, and personal life challenges.  Additionally, Dr Myers enjoys her supervisory role with young professionals in training, and working with them to develop their professional competencies and identities. She has supervised students at the masters, doctoral, and post-doctoral levels in various mental health fields.



Ryan O’Pry, LCSW
Assistant Director, Coordinator of Clinical Training

Ryan O’Pry, LCSW (Louisiana State University) assists in the daily operations of the Counseling Services. Additionally, he coordinates the professional development and supervision of graduate level interns. Mr. O’Pry has previously worked in community and school-based mental health services in the greater New Orleans area. As a member of the clinical staff, Mr. O’Pry appreciates his role in addressing the diverse concerns and needs of the UNO student population by providing a safe, supportive, and affirming therapeutic environment.  


 

Nina Stewart, MS, NCC, PLPC
Counselor and Coordinator of Outreach

Nina Stewart earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of New Orleans and a Master of Clinical Mental Counseling from Loyola University New Orleans and is registered as a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) with the Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners. As a mental health clinician, Ms. Stewart has worked in community mental health, outreach, the judicial system and rehabilitation. Ms. Stewart is currently pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor under the supervision of Dr. Reshelle Marino, LPC-S.s


 

Melissa Kunimatsu, PhD, PLP
Post-Doctoral Counselor

Melissa Kunimatsu received her doctorate in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of New Orleans and is a Provisionally Licensed Psychologist (PLP) in the state of Louisiana. She has previous clinical experience in community mental health, family therapy, juvenile justice, and psychometric assessment. Dr. Kunimatsu is currently pursuing full licensure as a Developmental Psychologist under the supervision of Rosamond Myers, PhD, Director of Counseling Services.


Interns

Caro Clark – Social Work Intern
Caro Clark is a Master of Social Work candidate at Tulane University School of Social Work with an anticipated graduation date of December 2017. Ms. Clark is supervised by Rosamond Myers, Ph.D., Director of Counseling Services.

Tucker Keatley – Social Work Intern
Tucker Keatley is a Master of Social Work candidate at Tulane University School of Social Work with an anticipated graduation date of December 2017. Mr. Keatley is supervised by Rosamond Myers, PhD, Director of Counseling Services.

Hope Levins – Social Work Intern
Hope Levins is a Master of Social Work candidate at Tulane University School of Social Work with an anticipated graduation date of December 2017. Ms. Levins is supervised by Rosamond Myers, Ph.D., Director of Counseling Services.
