Counseling Staff

Counseling Services professional staff are experienced in the assessment and treatment of mental health concerns common among university students. Graduate students from regional universities enrolled in various behavioral disciplines also provide services through Counseling Services under the supervision of the licensed professional staff.

Brian K. Knight Ph.D., LPC-s, NCC
Director of Counseling Services

Brian K. Knight earned a Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana/Monroe and a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of New Orleans. In his thirty year career Dr. Knight has worked in out-patient and inpatient treatment facilities providing individual, family, and group counseling to individuals with serious and persistent mental illnesses. In his former role as an Assistant Professor Dr. Knight has contributed to the educational endeavors of future mental health counselors and has worked extensively in the field of counseling pedagogy. Dr. Knight also maintains a small private practice in the New Orleans area where he specializes in Clinical Human Sexuality and is devoted to the promotion of sexual health.

Rosamond Myers, PhD
Assistant Director, Coordinator of Clinical Training

Rosamond Myers, Ph.D. (University of Southern Mississippi) oversees the training program for the masters level internship program offered by Counseling Services.  Earlier in her professional life, Dr. Myers worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, but since 1991 has chosen to devote her career to working with college students in university counseling center settings.  As a clinician, Dr. Myers is a generalist and works with a wide variety of student concerns. This is an ideal match for her interests as she enjoys assisting students from various walks of life address and successfully meet developmental, academic, and personal life challenges.  Additionally, Dr Myers enjoys her supervisory role with young professionals in training, and working with them to develop their professional competencies and identities. She has supervised students at the masters, doctoral, and post-doctoral levels in various mental health fields.

Nina Stewart, MS, NCC, PLPC
Counselor and Coordinator of Outreach

Nina Stewart earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of New Orleans and a Master of Clinical Mental Counseling from Loyola University New Orleans and is registered as a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) with the Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners. As a mental health clinician, Ms. Stewart has worked in community mental health, outreach, the judicial system and rehabilitation. Ms. Stewart is currently pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor under the supervision of Sarah Keith, MS, LPC-S. At Counseling Services, Ms. Stewart's clinical practice is supervised by Rosamond Myers, PhD, Assistant Director of Counseling Services.


Jeremy Peres, Ph.D
Post-Doctoral Counselor

Jeremy Peres earned his Ph.D. in Applied Biopsychology from the University of New Orleans and provides the full-range of services offered by UNO Counseling Services including short-term personal counseling and psychoeducational outreach. Dr. Peres is supervised by Rosamond Myers, PhD, Assistant Director of Counseling Services.

Sage Bierster is a Master of Social Work candidate at Tulane University School of Social Work with an anticipated graduation date of December 2016. Ms. Bierster is supervised by Adrian C. Péré, LCSW-BACS, Director of Counseling Services.
