Admission Requirements

Admission to the graduate programs is determined on the basis of

  • Undergraduate academic record
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (V+Q ≥ 295)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • TOEFL score ≥ 79 or IELTS ≥ 6.5 for applicants to whom English is the second language

Applicant without an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science

As stated above, applicants with Bachelor of Science degree in other undergraduate degrees will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Such students must have most of the prerequisite courses listed above.

Submit an Application

Application is considered to be completed only if all required materials such as application fee payment, official transcripts and official test scores are received by the deadline.

Please read the graduate checklist prior to completing the online application. 

  1. Go to
  2. Click on the link in the "Graduate" column
  3. Click the "Create Account" tab located on the top right-hand side of the page
  4. Fill out the online application and attach the necessary documents
    1. Statement of Purpose
    2. The names and contact information for the three people who will submit letters of recommendation for you (academic references are preferred but we also accept professional references)
  5. Please submit test scores. Official test scores should be sent to the University of New Orleans. Only IELTS scores may be sent via mail. All other scores (GRE and TOEFL) should be reported electronically by the testing agency.*
  6. Submit official transcripts from each institution that you have attended. International students may also need to submit certified English translations and evaluations of your transcripts. Learn more
