Undergraduate Programs

Biological Science (B.S.)

The Department of Biological Sciences offers outstanding training in many areas of the biological sciences. We provide a firm grounding in the natural sciences with diverse course offerings and research training opportunities in molecular genetics, biochemistry, physiology, cell biology, ecology, evolution, and conservation biology. With this superb training, our graduates are well prepared for admission to graduate and professional schools or to enter the workforce. Many of our students gain admission to medical schools and the allied health sciences as well as Ph.D. programs in the biological sciences. Our program has been successful because our faculty are committed to providing high-quality instruction as well as excellent research opportunities in our laboratories. Within this website you will find important information about our degree requirements, advising, career opportunities, and pre-professional programs.

"The atmosphere of the biology department at UNO enables me to succeed. The smaller class sizes allow for me to form academic relationships with professors, specifically relationships that encourage question asking, critical thinking, and overall advancement in my studies. In UNO's biology department, my professors know my name and work with me in furthering my education."
