Adult Student Liaison

An administrative staff member is dedicated to facilitating your transition into school and supporting you throughout your academic journey.  You will have a contact person to answer questions as well as coordinate the admissions and enrollment process. Financial Aid and Scholarships

The University provides financial aid (grants, loans, work-study) and scholarships (academic and departmental) to degree-seeking students.  There is no separate application for these awards.  When you apply for admission, you are automatically considered for scholarships. Counseling and Career Center

The Center attempts to meet student needs in regard to their personal and professional development.  Counseling services include confidential problem assessment and short-term mental health counseling.  Explore career options by identifying, clarifying and pursuing your career goals. Career services include résumé and cover letter writing and review, mock interviewing, professional skills development, networking opportunities, on-campus recruiting events, career fairs and the coordination of internships and experiential education opportunities. Health Care Services

All students are eligible for free, general medical services at a comprehensive medical clinic staffed by physicians, nurses and health educators.  Services include basic first aid, physical and gynecological exams, STD testing, birth control, treatment of minor ailments as well as maintenance of chronic illnesses.  Health insurance is also available for a modest premium. For more information see the Health Care Services website or call 504.280.6387.

Children’s Center

An exemplary early childhood education program for children 12 months to five years is available at a special rate for enrolled students.  Call 504.280.3131.

Student Housing

Take advantage of several on-campus housing options including Lafitte Village, Privateer Place and Pontchartrain Halls.  Both apartment and dormitory style residences offer all the conveniences of campus life.  For more information see the Student Housing website or call 504.280.6402.

The Earl K. Long Library

Study in an inviting atmosphere with access to a diverse range of resources.  Reference and research assistance is available in person or by phone, email, chat or text message via Twitter.  The Learning Commons offers access to computers and printers as well as DVDs and CDs for checkout.  The library is open seven days a week during the semester and students have remote access to library resources and services 24/7 through the library’s webpage.  For more information see the Earl K. Learning Resources

The Writing Center, Math Tutor Center and other Study Centers across campus are excellent resources for students needing help in writing, math, and a range of other subjects like Foreign Language, Sciences, Liberal Arts and Business.  On-line tutoring and instructional videotapes are also available.  For more information see the Learning Resources website or call 504.280.7054.

The Office of Disability Services
