Areas of Specialization: Public Law, Public Administration, Trial Courts, Drug Courts, and Specialized Courts

Dr. Shomade is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of New Orleans.  He also serves as the Graduate Coordinator and the Pre-Law Advisor.  He received his PhD from the University of Arizona and earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.  Dr. Shomade has published in The American Review of Politics, Judicature, Justice System Journal, Michigan State Law Review, and PS: Political Science & Politics.  His other written works have also appeared in The Law and Politics Book Review, Criminal Justice Review, International Criminal Justice Review, and in several encyclopedias.

Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Shomade practiced law for several years at various major law firms across the country.  He is a member of the New York, Texas, Georgia, District of Columbia, and Arizona State Bars.

Dr. Shomade's current research interests include state courts, criminal courts, drug courts, and other specialized courts.
