Graduate Studies in English Graduate Assistantships

Deadline for Graduate Assistantships

Applications for assistantships should be submitted no later than March 23rd.

Four types of graduate assistantships are available: teaching positions in the Freshman Composition program; tutoring positions in the Writing Center; research assistantships with individual faculty members; and service positions (administrative support) in the department office.

To qualify for a teaching position, students must first complete eighteen hours of credit toward the master’s degree, including ENGL 6281 (Composition Studies: Theory and Practice). Each first-year teaching assistant receives guidance from a faculty mentor and the Coordinator of Freshman English.
