Background

Christine Tschida is the Director of Northrop, the recently revitalized center for the arts, performance and academics at the University of Minnesota. Before joining the presenting field, she was an agent for Rena Shagan Associates in New York, representing American and international dance and theater companies.  She spent 11 years as producer of Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion, creating live broadcasts from hundreds of different venues in every state in the US, as well as tour broadcasts from Germany, Ireland, Scotland and England. As a line producer at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, she took Peter Brook’s production of The Cherry Orchard to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tblisi and Tokyo.  As Director of Special Projects for Peter Sellars’ American National Theater at The Kennedy Center, she arranged production exchanges with the La Jolla Playhouse and Wilma Theatres, and presentations of Dario Fo, the Haifa Municipal Theater of Israel, and The Wooster Group.  Her touring experience began at Minneapolis’ Guthrie Theater where, as Director of Outreach Programs, she booked and managed the largest national tour that theater had ever undertaken.
