      The Ethel and Herman Midlo Center for New Orleans Studies promotes understanding of New Orleans history, politics, culture and public policy issues, particularly civil rights, sponsoring and participating in events that bring together scholars on special topics relating to New Orleans.

    • NeighborhoodNeighborhood Story Project

      We started at our neighborhood public school, John McDonogh Senior High, with the idea of our students investigating their worlds. For a year, the students wrote, photographed, interviewed and edited. In June of 2005, we brought out five books—collaborative ethnographies—about New Orleans.
