Dr. Matthew L. Lyons is an Assistant Professor of Counseling in the Department of Educational Leadership, Counseling, and Foundations at the University of New Orleans (UNO). He earned his Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Ohio University. In addition, he holds an M.A. in Counseling from Marshall University and an M.Div. from Palmer Theological Seminary. His research interests include leadership, spirituality, adolescence, and family. Dr. Lyons has experience in inpatient and outpatient community mental health centers, hospitals, public schools, alternative schools, community youth programs, and religious organizations. Dr. Lyons has worked extensively with adolescents and their families and has served as a consultant for community youth organizations. Dr. Lyons regularly presents at local, state, and national conferences and is an active participant in national and state organizations including the American Counseling Association, Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and the Louisiana Counseling Association.
