Dr. Flowers specializes in educational issues including academic development of African American males, STEM education, diversity, and college student transition. Dr. Flowers' research focuses on the academic experiences of academically gifted African American males and Latino students in the STEM disciplines, particularly engineering, mathematics, and science. In 2015, Dr. Flowers was selected to join the Massachusetts Institute for College and Career Readiness at Boston University as a Senior Research Fellow. To date, he has completed 35 peer-reviewed national conference presentations, including several presentations at the Association for the Study of Higher Education and Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented.
