Dr. Roxane L. Dufrene is an Associate Professor of Counseling in the Department of Educational Leadership, Counseling, and Foundations. She holds a doctorate in Counselor Education with a minor in research from Mississippi State University and a master’s in Counseling Psychology from Nicholls State University. Dr. Dufrene has clinical experience in outpatient and inpatient state mental health treatment, college counseling, crisis intervention, counseling training clinics, and hospice. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor Approved Supervisor and a National Certified Counselor. Dr. Dufrene is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Management, has Louisiana Appraisal Privilege, and is an American Red Cross Mental Health Counselor. She is presently serving on the editorial boards of the Journal of College Counseling and the Louisiana Counseling Association Journal. She has previously served on Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners the Bioethics Committee and Pastoral Consultation Committee at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. Her teaching and research include crisis intervention, ethics, psychometrics, remediation and technology.
