Jan Janz received a B.A. from the University of Winnipeg, B.Ed. from the University of Toronto, M.Ed. from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, and Ph.D. from the University of New Orleans.

She holds the following Louisiana certifications: elementary grades, mild/moderate disabilities, learning disabled, socially maladjusted and emotionally disturbed, severe/profound disabilities, assessment teacher, educational consultant, educational diagnostician, and school supervisor of instruction. Her professional experiences include: classroom teacher (general and special education), educational consultant, educational diagnostician, and administrator for special education programs in the nonpublic schools.
