Advanced Programs

The college offers a number of degrees at the graduate level.

The are a number of master's degree (M.Ed.) and doctoral degree (Ph.D.) programs offered by the college. These programs are in the following areas:
  • Curriculum and Instruction
  • Counseling
  • Education Administration (Including School Leadership)
  • Special Education
  • Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)


The advanced master's degree mentioned above culminate in the attainment of Master's in Education degree, or M.Ed. The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program, which was created for students who already have a bachelor's degree (or higher) but have not yet attained teacher certification. Successful completion of this master's degree program prepares the graduate for teacher certification. It is both an initial teacher certification program AND an advanced program.

Note:

There is also a "Master of Arts in Teaching" (M.A.T.) degree, which is an initial teacher certification degree; therefore, it is not included under "Advanced Degrees."

If you already have a Bachelor's degree and wish to become certified as a teacher, then the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T) degree would be your goal.
