5. Optional - Enrollment as a Non-Degree Student:

While in the process of applying to the Master’s Degree program in counseling, individuals may enroll as non-degree students. In order to take the four (4) Foundation courses listed below, it will be necessary for you to have been admitted by the UNO Graduate School as a non-degree graduate student.

Non-degree students are eligible to take four (4) Foundation courses: EDGC 6400 Theories of Counseling EDFR 6430 Psychological Foundations of Education EDGC 6430 Counseling Techniques EDFR 6700 Educational Research. Other courses in the counseling graduate program may not be taken until the applicant is admitted as a master’s degree student and has attended a scheduled New Student Orientation meeting.

Enrollment and/or completion of the four (4) counseling courses listed above does not ensure admittance to the counseling graduate program. Once admitted to the counseling graduate program, no more than six (6) graduate credits may be transferred from another university; twelve (12) hours from institutions within the LSU System.

International Admissions Policy:

Completed international applications are considered on an individual basis. In certain cases phone interviews might be held. No assistantship will be provided international students until they are on the UNO campus.

Notice:

Until application documentation has been reviewed by the Counseling Graduate Program and you have been interviewed, you are not eligible to be officially accepted into the master’s degree program. If admitted, you will receive two letters in sum, one as a non-degree seeking student by UNO Admissions and one into the UNO Counseling Graduate Program as a degree seeking student. Until you receive both letters, you are not considered officially accepted.
