Internships

A multitude of local shipbuilding, ship design and offshore engineering companies in the Greater New Orleans Region and the Gulf Coast offer a broad range of work opportunities for our students. There are positions for continuous part time employment and for summer internships. The School of NAME maintains a directory of companies that offer internships which can be obtained in the NAME main office EN 911.

Employers can e-mail internship opportunities to Ms Jan Felix or Lothar Birk. The information will be forwarded to our students. Employers are also encouraged to contact the UNO Counseling and Career Center.  Employers can post job announcements for free at its website, counserv.uno.edu.

NREIP

Sophomores and above can apply to the Naval Research Enterprise Intern Program (NREIP). Freshmen can apply but must reach sophomore status before the start of the internship.  NREIP provides students with the opportunity to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory during the summer. Details about this opportunity can be found at nreip.asee.org. Application deadline is usually in early January. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
