Space Day 2014Starry Success: Space Day 2014

The University of New Orleans welcomed approximately 150 students from New Orleans area schools to campus to participate in Space Day 2014. The inaugural event was designed to introduce youngsters to the joys and challenges – and especially the important – of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

EN 4096 ClassUNO Students Learn Space Age Technology

Students receive hands-on experience with friction-stir welding using leading industrial technologies at the National Center for Advanced Manufacturing (NCAM). Located at the Michoud Assembly Facility, this is the same equipment and processes used in the NASA Space Program. The course (EN 4096/5096) is the result of a partnership between NASA, NCAM, and the University of New Orleans and is open to students at several universities in the region.
