Erich Brockmann is an Associate Professor on the faculty of the Management department at the University of New Orleans-Lakefront.  He has been with the University of New Orleans since 1998 teaching Strategic Management at the undergraduate, MBA, and Executive levels.  He has also taught classes in International Business and Managerial Practices.  He has contributed to the University’s international presence by participating in the Innsbruck Austria summer school program.  He has also contributed to the business community through consulting projects with large and small health care organizations, city government organizations, and legal practices.  He continues to contribute to the academic environment through publication of articles in several management journals.

Erich obtained his Ph.D. in strategic management at The Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida with a support area in research methods.  While pursuing this degree, he taught classes in Basic Management, Operations Management, and Business Policy and Administration at FSU and courses for the personal computer at the Center for Professional Development.  He has also taught Research Methods and Managerial Skill Development as a visiting professor at the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.  His research interests include top management team decision making, corporate governance, and an organization’s propensity to recover from bankruptcy.  He is also interested in the opportunity recognition potential in Entrepreneurs.  As part of his research, he has published conceptual and empirical papers in both academic and practitioner oriented journals.
