Management is the organizational activity that accomplishes goals though the effective and efficient utilization of the efforts of individuals or groups using financial, technical, human, and natural resources. Management is both a science and an art in that it combines the science-based disciplines of finance, accounting, marketing, operations management, and technological systems with the theory and practice of evaluating situations and human psychology to determine the most effective and efficient methods to accomplish necessary goals.
The Department of Management is responsible for several subject areas in the College of Business Administration. In addition to General Management, Organizational Behavior, Operations Management and Human Resource Management, subjects found in many Departments of Management, we are responsible for Management Information Systems, Entrepreneurship, Business Communications and Business Law. We also provide elective courses in areas such as International Management and Environmental Management.
We offer a B.S. in Management, with a choice of concentrations in Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, and Management Information Systems. More technical students may consider the Business Administration - Computer Science Option (BA-CS) with a Management Information Systems (MIS) concentration. This option pools the resources of the Computer Science and Management departments to provide students with sufficient computer science and MIS coursework to obtain their first job in the field.
