February – April 2015:

The University of New Orleans will be holding a Katrina @10 event, exploring the state of the city ten years after the storm. These events are collaborations among Planning and Urban Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, Public Administration, CHART and UNOTI. All events are free and open to the public.

November 12, 2014:

CHART held a CRS User’s Group Program for Public Information Meeting for the Flood Loss Outreach and Awareness Taskforce (FLOAT) at The University of New Orleans.

November 10, 2014:

Graduate Research Assistant Tara Lambeth became a full time Research Associate.

November 5, 2014:

CHART held an Executives Workshop for community leaders in Lake Charles, LA. The workshop helped to enhance the capacity of community and business leaders to make strategic decisions related to resilience and risk management based on sound, scientific principles of resilience.

October 15, 2014:

CHART Director Monica Farris and Graduate Research Assistant Tara Lambeth presented on Community Mitigation Tools at the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Hazard Mitigation Workshop, held at Louisiana State University at Alexandria.

October 10, 2014:

CHART Director Monica Farris presented at the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs Summer Research Program Presentations.

October 9, 2014:

July 1 2014:

UNO-CHART held a Train the Trainer workshop at The University of New Orleans for the Continuity Planning for Community Organizations Project. Attendees learned how to train others in their organization how to be more resilient and how to make a continuity plan.

Save the date for the upcoming Executive Program in Resilience and Risk Management. The 3-hour event is set for May 9, 2014 in Alexandria, LA. We are pleased to announce our two guest speakers, Erin Capps who'll discuss the legal aspects of community liability and David Mallory who will share how his community weathered the recent Colorado flooding.
