The University of New Orleans has been named the Best College for Lowest Student Loan Debt in Louisiana by LendEDU. In its Student Loan Debt by School by State 2017 Report, it found nationwide that 60 percent of graduates had student debt and the average graduate owed $27,975. The rankings are based on average student loan debt per borrower at graduation. By this metric, the University of New Orleans ranks lowest in the state with an average debt per borrower of $21,767.
The University of New Orleans has appeared for many consecutive years on U.S. News & World Report’s Least Debt list, which highlights the 20 national universities whose students have the lowest levels of average student loan debt. UNO graduates also have the highest early career salaries of any university in the state, according to a 2016 report from Payscale.com.
