The University of New Orleans is the only Louisiana school featured in the “Public Colleges of Distinction 2017 Guidebook.” Schools chosen for the list demonstrate a commitment to high quality undergraduate education, an engaged student body, a vibrant learning community and successful outcomes, according to the publisher.
As a school profiled in the guidebook, the University of New Orleans will be represented among outstanding public colleges and universities from all over the country as part of a college search resource for students, parents and high school counselors.
“I am proud that the University of New Orleans has been recognized once again for the quality education we provide,” said UNO President John Nicklow.
“Speaking as a university president and the parent of a teenager engaged in the college search process, I know that finding a school that is the right fit for the student is really important,” Nicklow said. “This guidebook is a useful tool and emphasizes several of our strengths as a campus, like student engagement and successful alumni.”
“The school profiles in this book emphasize core skills such as critical thinking, writing, research and global perspectives. The colleges must also offer out-of-classroom learning programs,” said Colleges of Distinction's Chief Operating Officer Tyson Schritter. “Each one is successfully making a student's college years not just an education but a valuable life experience.”
