University Launches ‘UNO25’ to Highlight High-Impact Alumni Businesses

The University of New Orleans has launched “UNO25,” an initiative designed to identify, recognize and celebrate 25 high-impact businesses that are owned or led by alumni of the University. The inaugural group of honorees will be selected in 2017. Nominations and applications will open on Feb. 1 and close on May 31. A dinner will be held in honor of the selected businesspeople in October 2017.

“We know that the University of New Orleans has a powerful and wide-reaching influence on the greater New Orleans region,” said UNO President John Nicklow. “Our alumni are entrepreneurs, innovators and respected leaders in numerous fields. UNO25 will allow the University to showcase the contributions of our alumni and the real impact that they are making in the lives of so many in the region. All of our graduates should take pride in the successes of their fellow alumni.”

According to an economic impact study released in June by the University of New Orleans, UNO has more than 42,000 alumni in the eight-parish region of metropolitan New Orleans. The study also found that in 2014-15, the University generated an economic impact of $470 million for that same area.
