The University of New Orleans Department of Athletics will host the inaugural “Welcome Aboard” event as part of the school’s annual Privateer Plunge on Monday, Aug. 29, in Lakefront Arena. All UNO students are invited to attend, and shuttle service from Pontchartrain Hall to East Campus will begin at 4:30 p.m.
All participants will have the opportunity to meet the student-athletes, coaches and staff from the Privateers’ intercollegiate athletic programs and can win an assortment of prizes based on friendly competitions between the athletes themselves and the general student body.
University President Dr. John Nicklow and representatives of the Privateers Department of Athletics will address the group to let them know how they affect UNO home contests and turn the respective on-campus facilities into a true home-field advantage. Admission to “Welcome Aboard” is free and will feature free food and beverages, as well as music provided by John Lacour.
While shuttle service is available, attendees can also drive their personal vehicles and park free of charge in the Lakefront Arena lots. To get into the arena, please use the Ground 1 Entrance
The Privateer Plunge is a campus-wide initiative to promote all things UNO and introduce students to the vast array of opportunities the University provides. Sponsored by the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership and the Office of Enrollment Services, Privateer Plunge offers a variety of opportunities to understand the resources available, meet other students and get to know the faculty and staff.
