The UNO-St. Claude Gallery will feature a summer group exhibition comprised of works by students enrolled in the University of New Orleans Master of Fine Arts program. The gallery will host an opening reception on Saturday, June 11 from 6-9 p.m. The exhibition will run from June 11 – Aug. 7, 2016.
The exhibition is entitled “Presences.” Curated by instructor and gallery manager/director Kathy Rodriguez, the works in the show consider various interpretations of the title, such as mindfulness or “being present,” absence, ephemera, ghosts, the indexical sign and the presence of the art object or subject matter in the space of the viewer. Figuration plays a large part in the works, made in a variety of media.
Artists include: Martin Benson, Karie Cooper, Dana DeNoux, Harper Hair, Tyler P. Haney, Dane Hansen, Ashley Hope, Brent Houzenga, Erika Lehrmann, Holli Nunn, Sarah Oestriecher, Ruth Owens, Paul Richey, Sam Stolte and Natalie Woodlock.
The gallery is located at 2429 St. Claude Avenue. Regular gallery hours are Saturday-Sunday, 12-5 p.m. The gallery will be closed the weekend of July 2-3. Please direct any inquiries to Kathy Rodriguez via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the gallery at (504) 948-6939.
