UNO Faculty and Staff Recognized for Service

 


The University of New Orleans Office of Human Resource Management hosted an awards ceremony and a reception honoring faculty and staff for years of dedication and outstanding service. The events were held in the University Center’s Senator Theodore M. “Ted” Hickey Ballroom on April 29 and were attended by approximately 200 faculty, staff and students.

Ranzy Montet, assistant vice president for human resource management, welcomed the audience and introduced President John Nicklow, who presented awards to faculty and staff who had achieved benchmarks in their years of service to the University. Sherry Ann Vicknair, an employee at the Earl K. Long Library, was recognized for 50 years of service to UNO. Kazim M. Akyuzlu, a professor of mechanical engineering and Eprsy Livas of the Earl K. Long Library were recognized for 35 years of service.

The following employees were recognized for 30 years of service: Benjamin Richard Cotton, University Police; Daniel E. Doll, English; William M. Easley, economics and finance; Stephen F. Kolz, business affairs; Cheryl A. Lewis, information technology; Connie Lynne Phelps, Earl K. Long Library; Ralph A. Saxton, mathematics; Robert E. Shenk, English and Richard B. Speaker, Jr., curriculum and instruction.

Following President Nicklow’s presentations for years of service, Montet recognized each employee who had been selected as a 2015 employee of the month through UNO’s Service with Jazz program. The program recognizes employees who demonstrate work ethic, customer service, commitment, loyalty, leadership and motivation. James McAllister, instructor in foreign languages, was named Service with Jazz Employee of the Year for 2015. Montet also took time to recognize 61 employees who retired during the 2015-16 school year and four who passed away.
