Looking for a way to merge your academic pursuits with community service?

University of New Orleans’ Office of Service Learning is accepting student applications for its new Privateer Service Learning Corps Program.

Eight students will be selected to receive $500 scholarships in exchange for 30 hours of engaged service related to a particular issue of interest to them.

The program is open to all students, but preference is given to full-time undergraduates who are in good academic standing and are in their second- or third-year of study.

Applications, which are available online, are due Jan. 27 and students will be notified on or before Feb. 5, giving them the remainder of the Spring semester to complete their service hours and other requirements.
