Grammy Award-Winning String Quartet Cuarteto Latinoamericano Closes 2015-16 Season of Musical Excursions

The 2015-16 season of Musical Excursions culminates with a performance by Cuarteto Latinoamericano on Tuesday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the recital hall of UNO’s Performing Arts Center. Cuarteto Latinoamericano is one of the world's most renowned classical music ensembles, and for more than 30 years has been the leading proponent of Latin American music for string quartet.

Founded in Mexico in 1982, the Cuarteto has toured extensively throughout Europe, North and South America, Israel, China, Japan and New Zealand. The group has premiered more than 100 works written for it and it continues to introduce new and neglected composers to the genre. Winners of a 2012 Latin Grammy, the Cuarteto has been recognized with the Mexican Music Critics Association Award and three times received Chamber Music America/ASCAP's "Most Adventurous Programming" Award.

The series is presented jointly by the Department of Music and the Arts Administration Program at the University of New Orleans, in association with WWNO Radio.
