University of New Orleans marketing professor Elyria Kemp is one of 12 academics across the country to be selected for the Advertising Educational Foundation’s 2015 Visiting Professor Program.
The program is a two-week fellowship for professors of advertising, marketing, communications and the liberal arts. The professors are placed with advertising agencies as well as marketing and media companies, depending on their individual areas of expertise.
In 2014, 15 professors were hosted by advertising agencies in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City. The goal of the program is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas between academia and industry, while creating mutual understanding and appreciation.
Kemp, an assistant professor of marketing, researches the role of emotions in advertising. She currently teaches graduate level strategic marketing classes in the Master of Business Administration program and health care management program.
“Participating in this program is a cherished professional development opportunity for me,” Kemp said. “I look forward to presenting my research and engaging in thought-provoking exchanges with my colleagues in the industry.”
The 2015 fellows will be assigned their host companies in the next several weeks.
Founded in 1983, the Advertising Educational Foundation is a nonprofit whose mission is to enrich the understanding of advertising and its role in culture, society and the economy.
