A quick look at the 2015 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival Presented by Shell schedule shows the University of New Orleans’ dominance in the contemporary New Orleans music arena. Over 80 UNO-based musicians – current students, alumni, and faculty - will be performing in more than 75 acts that span every festival stage and in every genre, from hip-hop to opera and, of course, jazz.
For years, UNO has boasted a greater showing at the world-renowned and iconic jazz festival than any other university, a testament to the strength of the University's Music Department and acclaimed jazz studies program founded by acclaimed jazz musician and UNO Professor Emeritus Ellis Marsalis.
