Artist and University of New Orleans alumna Jessica Goldfinch will deliver a gallery talk on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 4 p.m., in conjunction with her current solo exhibit, "Miraculous Tales of Nonfiction" at the UNO-St. Claude Gallery.
Through her exhibit, Goldfinch investigates mortality issues through the use of Freudian concepts of the uncanny. Her work references Dutch still life, religious imagery and memento mori -- images that serve as a reminder of death. Goldfinch seeks to combine seriousness and humor or irony to illustrate what she calls "the paradox of morality."
The gallery is located at 2429 St. Claude Ave., and the exhibit runs through Oct. 4. Regular gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5 p.m. Email questions to Kathy Rodriguez at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the gallery during open hours at 504-948-6939.
