The University of New Orleans Center Austria is holding lecture, free and open to the public, on the European refugee crisis, a pressing issue challenging global leaders as countless migrants flee war-torn Syria. The talk will be led by Andreas Oberprantacher, a visiting professor of history at UNO, who is associate professor of philosophy at the University of Innsbruck. The lecture will take place Monday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. in Room 407 of the Earl K. Long Library.
Oberprantacher teaches political theory, social philosophy, and aesthetics at the University of Innsbruck's Department of Philosophy. He recently earned tenure for his research on the emergence of illegal aliens and the transformation of contemporary politics. He serves as acting secretary general of the Austrian Society for Philosophy and continues to research migration and globalization at the University of Innsbruck.
