Sports & Recreation

University athletics enhance the overall student experience, and UNO offers a broad array of competitive and recreational athletic programs to ensure that students have every opportunity to be involved.

UNO has a long history of athletics.  From the earliest days when students worked together to start a club football team in the 1960's, to the launch of NCAA play later that decade, to recent years when the UNO Baseball team won the Sunbelt Conference Tournament, athletics has been a significant part of UNO.

We also offer club and intramural sports, as well as multiple opportunities for recreational events that focus on having fun in an athletic environment. And our state-of-the-art fitness center will keep you fit year round!

In addition to UNO offerings, New Orleans features professional teams playing year round.  From the World Champion New Orleans Saints to the minor league soccer New Orleans Jesters, there is never downtime for athletics in New Orleans.
